About the Session
To cap off April as National Volunteer Month, we’re welcoming a nationally recognized expert on caring for those with Access and Functional Needs.
This unique seminar is especially intended for:
Upper Merrimack Valley Medical Reserve Corps – Volunteers from all backgrounds
Members of the UMV Region 3C Public Health Coalition – Public health directors, town nurses, and affiliates
Municipal Partners – Council on Aging, Police, Fire, and First Responders

What to Expect
This interactive, scenario-based training explores effective interactions with individuals with disabilities in settings such as flu vaccination clinics and disaster shelters.
Participants will be introduced to:
OARS steps (Observe, Assess, Respond, Verify Success) for respectful and effective communication
CMIST framework (Communication, Maintaining Health, Independence, Safety/Support/Self-Determination, Transportation)
Practical tips for first responders, including just-in-time information for working with specific populations
Attendees will receive links to all tools and extensive resources. This session is not to be missed!
